Calculate values for the “unused portion of K, [1-(N/K)]” (round up to the second decimal) and for the population growth rate (ΔN/Δt) (round up to the nearest highest whole number). The elephant population was growing unhindered, because they were in essence “invading” this new, protected habitat. There was plenty of food and space for reproduction and survival.
It is likely that Colonel Stevenson-Hamilton witnessed an increase of 2 elephants, because the population was so small then.
